Environmental Studies
Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary major that explores the complex relationships between humans and the natural world. It combines science, policy, ethics, and social studies to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable resource management. Students gain a broad understanding of ecological systems and learn how to analyze environmental issues from multiple perspectives鈥攕cientific, economic, cultural, and political.
Trending Programs

Design is the visual communication of ideas. Western's Design program emphasizes the process of problem solving and encourages students to make connections between culture and design, and their role as visual communicators.

Early childhood education relates to the teaching of children from birth to eight years old. Knowledge of developmental changes and the subjects being taught in an early childhood classroom are important for early childhood educators.

The East Asian Studies program offers an interdisciplinary study of the area, with a primary focus on the countries of China and Japan. Under special advisement, Korea and Mongolia are also subjects for study.

Globally, access to modern energy services, including efficient usage, is essential to realize 21st century living standards. A transition from inefficient fossil fuels to a clean, efficient system is key to managing urgent risks such as climate change.
