Environmental Studies
Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary major that explores the complex relationships between humans and the natural world. It combines science, policy, ethics, and social studies to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable resource management. Students gain a broad understanding of ecological systems and learn how to analyze environmental issues from multiple perspectives鈥攕cientific, economic, cultural, and political.

German Studies aims to teach students in depth about the cultures of the German-speaking world. Germany is the United States鈥 biggest European trading partner, and the German language is the second most commonly used business language in the world.

The department offers a holistic and global exploration of the great books and scriptures, art and ideas, and cultural and religious traditions that have shaped humanity.

The study of history involves a careful search through existing evidence to determine what happened in the past, but understanding how and why that evidence was created and saved is at the center of the discipline. It鈥檚 all about asking tough questions.
