Completion of this major results in a BA in Education. Students who complete this major typically seek employment in non-school settings, such as health and human services and non-profit organizations; they do not qualify for a teaching certificate.

Environmental Studies — Elementary

Are you excited about teaching children about the environment? Do you want to teach people to make environmental choices in their lives? Perhaps an Environmental Studies-Elementary major is for you!

Early Childhood Special Education

This rigorous major combines content in Special Education with that in Early Childhood. It prepares students to work with children (birth–8) who are at-risk for developmental delay and disability.

Early Childhood Special Education P-3 and Early Childhood Education P-3 (Dual Endorsement)

Combines studies in Early Childhood and Special Education and leads teaching certification with endorsements in Early Childhood Special Education and Early Childhood Education (P-3).

Western’s Art Education, Elementary program prepares students to become elementary classroom teachers with a special focus on visual art.

Anthropology is particularly valuable for teachers, because it provides a broad understanding of human behavior, cultural diversity, and learning as a process of social interaction. While the major is tailored for students interested in teaching, graduates can apply their learning to a variety of graduate degrees and careers locally/internationally in both the public and private sectors.
