Biology

Biology is the study of living organisms. As scientists, biologists have three goals: (1) understanding biological systems, (2) generating and disseminating reliable data pertaining to biological systems, and (3) developing a deep understanding of the natural world that can inform solutions for the serious challenges facing humanity. The Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in Biology enable you to develop an integrated conceptual foundation in biology, as well as critical thinking skills, quantitative problem-solving abilities, leadership and team-building skills, and scientific research skills.

Economics

This Bachelor of Science degree in Economics emphasizes the more analytical, mathematical, and empirical aspects of economics and is particularly appropriate for students interested in technical careers or future academic studies.

Environmental Science

The Environmental Science program at Western Washington University on the Peninsulas is a 2+2 degree designed for students who have completed an associate's degree or transfer requirements. This program teaches students to address the causes and impacts of environmental challenges and to use knowledge of environmental sciences in real-world applications.

Data Science

The skills you will obtain in the Data Science program will enable you to obtain, process, organize, analyze, visualize and model the troves of data out there. Data science empowers you to solve important, challenging problems that are otherwise impractical or impossible to solve. It is interdisciplinary, drawing from the fields of computer science, mathematics, statistics, and information science, among many others.

Marine and Coastal Science

Marine and Coastal Science is a joint program of the Shannon Point Marine Center (SPMC), and the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Geology, and Environmental Sciences. We are advancing the state of knowledge about the oceans, coasts, and their ecosystems for the scientific community and for the communities we call home.

This program provides an integrated coursework approach to prepare students to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and also prepares students for a business environment that increasingly demands effective communication, critical thinking, understanding of diversity in the workplace, and the ability to analyze data.
